It’s back! You might remember the Stats Explorer from 2018. Well here it is again, fresh with data from 2019.

This year’s explorer is built on the same Tableau Public framework, but I’ve reworked the data-source to pull almost exclusively from the Sleeper API. They’ve upped their game this year with better, more complete stats. It still pulls in Boris Chen’s tiers and ranks, though.

Statistical Points Floor

A standard deviation below the mean, specific to each individual player. A measure of potential, don’t necessarily be spooked by a negative floor score. It likely just indicates higher potential for low to no points, not actually negative points

Statistical Points Ceiling

A standard deviation above the mean, specific to each individual player. A measure of potential, not a projection.

Games Played

A count of games in which a given player participated. To participate in a game, a player must have been on the field for 1 or more snaps. Points Per Game, Standard Deviation, and other derivative stats take into account each individual player’s game count, not the game count for the team they play on.

Fantasy Points

Self explanatory. Select your scoring type in the appropriate dropdown with the app. Data similar to ESPN scoring for each type.

Points Per Game (PPG)

Average points a player has scored season-to-date. Fantasy Points divided by Games Played.

Total Snaps

Sum of all snaps a player has seen throughout the season.

Total Targets

Sum of all targets a player has seen throughout the season.

Total Receptions

Sum of all receptions a player has seen throughout the season.

Reception Yards

Sum of all reception yards a player has accumulated throughout the season.

Rush Attempts

Sum of all rush attempts a player has seen throughout the season.

Rush Yards

Sum of all rushing yards a player has accumulated throughout the season.

Total Uses

Sum of Pass Attempts, Targets, and Rush Attempts throughout the season.

Total Yards

Sum of Pass, Receptions, and Rushing Yards throughout the season.

Total Touchdowns

Sum of Pass, Reception, and Rushing Touchdowns throughout the season.

Ownership Percent

Percent of ESPN leagues in which a player is owned (as of last update).

Standard Deviation

Average distance from the mean (PPG). On average, how far a player strays from their average number of points in one direction or the other.

Consistency

A statistical consistency measurement, this score is an inverse of the Coefficient of Variation (1 over the Cov). This stat is similar to Standard Deviation, but normalizes for different point totals.
